Medical Parasitology and Mycology is the branch of medical sciences about parasites and Fungi that live temporarily or permanently, on or within the human body (host). It discusses the parasitic and Mycotic diseases transmitted from humans to humans, as well as from animals to humans (zoonotic diseases).

At the end of the theory and practical courses, students are expected to:

1.      Express the general concepts and common definitions in parasitology and Mycology

2.      State the shape and scientific names of parasites and Fungi microscopically and macroscopically with an emphasis on parasites common in Iran.

3.      Provide a summary of the cycle of life, infection source, and reservoirs and fully explain about common parasites and fungi of the country.

4.      Explain the method of transmission for parasitic and mycotic diseases.

5.      Express the geographical distribution of common parasitic and mycotic diseases in the country.

6.      Name the main clinical symptoms of the mentioned diseases.

7.      Name the treatment methods and selected medications for current diseases in the country.

8.      Explain about preventive methods for the mentioned diseases.

9.      Be able to search the internet and gather information from scientific books according to the time and location of referrals to eliminate the problems in detecting and treating parasitic and mycotic diseases.
